View clearing involving four ponderosa pines, a Douglas-fir, and several oaks. Th efirst photo was from before, and the second and third after the pruning paid for by the uphill neighbor to open up views of the Columbia River Gorge. By opening up “windows”, the observer’s eye can stitch together the ridge lines, mountains, and water from the exposed portions, while retaining the large trees that frame the view. Old-style view pruning would have topped the trees.
